Fluent in both Spanish and English, Dr. Natalia Spinelli is a breast surgeon who provides specialized treatment for Precision Healthcare Specialists patients in Southwest Florida. She focuses in breast cancer and benign breast diseases. Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, she brings a wealth of experience from previous roles, including as the assistant professor of surgical oncology in the department of surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) in Dallas.
Dr. Spinelli started her surgical career with a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and microbiology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, graduating with high honors in her major and magna cum laude in 2008. In 2012, she obtained her medical degree with the highest honors from the University of South Florida Health’s Morsani College of Medicine. Prior to graduation, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and Gold Humanism Honor Society. For postgraduate training, Dr. Spinelli completed her clinical residency in general surgery at UTSW in 2017 followed by a clinical fellowship in breast surgical oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2018 in Houston.
Her areas of expertise include benign and malignant disorders of the breast, high-risk breast cancer screening and prevention, and improvements in surgical techniques and management, about which Dr. Spinelli has published many peer-reviewed articles and presented a variety of educational lectures across diverse surgical topics. Meet Her Team: Shauna Smith, APRN
Shauna Smith, APRN, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners with more than 10 years of surgical nursing expertise. As a member of the Oncology Nursing Society, Shauna holds a nationally accredited breast care nursing certification, which encompasses the entire spectrum of breast care nursing practice. Working closely with Dr. Spinelli, Shauna assists with providing multidisciplinary breast care at Precision Healthcare Specialists.
Being a Southwest Florida native, Shauna has dedicated her medical career to giving back to the community in which she was raised. She has melded her expertise in women’s health with her passion for fitness and wellness. Using this approach, Shauna helps women design and implement a unique plan to minimize their future risk for breast cancer. She is proud to empower women with the tools needed to take control of their breast health. Outside of the office, Shauna can be found teaching Pure Barre classes or hunting for seashells on the beach. She loves spending time at home with her husband, daughter, two Yorkies, and Petey the Parakeet.
